Effective date: September 3, 2026. Last updated: September 3, 2026.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Laaro, a WhatsApp-based conversational English-practice service ("Laaro," "we," "us," or "our"). By starting a conversation with Laaro on WhatsApp, downloading the Laaro app, or otherwise using the service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Laaro.
Laaro is an AI-powered conversation-practice service delivered primarily through WhatsApp. It is designed to help you practice real-world spoken and written English (and other supported languages) for situations such as job interviews, dating, family conversations, public speaking, and salary negotiation. Laaro is a practice tool, not a certified language-instruction program, a substitute for professional coaching, or a substitute for professional advice of any kind (legal, medical, financial, immigration, or otherwise).
You must be at least 18 years old to create a Laaro account or subscribe to Laaro. If you are between 13 and 17 years old, you may use Laaro only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. Laaro is not directed at, and may not be used by, children under 13. By using Laaro, you confirm that you meet this eligibility requirement.
Laaro is delivered through the WhatsApp number you use to message us. You are responsible for maintaining control of that phone number and the WhatsApp account linked to it. You agree to provide accurate information (such as your name and preferred practice topics) when setting up Laaro, and you are responsible for all activity that occurs through your WhatsApp conversation with Laaro.
New users receive a limited number of free messages with Laaro (currently five) before a paid subscription is required to continue. We may change the number of free messages, or discontinue the free trial, at any time and without prior notice, including for users who have not yet started a trial. The free trial is limited to one per person; we may use reasonable means (such as phone number or device checks) to enforce this limit.
After the free trial ends, continued use of Laaro requires an active paid subscription. The current subscription price is Rs. 99 per month, billed in Indian Rupees, unless a different price is clearly shown to you at the time of purchase.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Google Play account settings (Play Store, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions, Laaro). Cancellation stops future renewals, but you will generally continue to have access to Laaro for the remainder of the billing period you already paid for. We do not directly process cancellations or refunds outside of the app-store platform through which you subscribed; refund requests are subject to that platform's refund policy. Where required by applicable Indian consumer-protection law, statutory refund and cancellation rights are not affected by this section.
Laaro is built for good-faith conversation practice. When using Laaro, you agree that you will not:
Laaro uses automated safety and content-moderation systems to review conversations for these categories of misuse. We may warn you, redirect the conversation, limit your access, or suspend or terminate your account (with or without a refund, as described in Section 6) if we reasonably believe you have violated this section. If a conversation indicates a genuine safety, medical, or crisis emergency, Laaro is not a substitute for emergency services or a qualified professional. Please contact local emergency services or an appropriate helpline directly.
Laaro's responses are generated by artificial intelligence. While we work to make Laaro helpful, safe, and realistic for practice purposes, AI-generated responses may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, culturally imperfect, or inappropriate despite our safety systems. Do not rely on anything Laaro says as factual, professional, or legal guidance. You are responsible for exercising your own judgment about any information you receive through Laaro.
You retain ownership of the messages you send to Laaro ("your content"). By sending messages to Laaro, you grant us a limited license to process, store, and use your content to operate, maintain, secure, and improve the service, including generating responses to you, monitoring for safety and abuse, and, where you have not opted out and as described in our Privacy Policy, improving our AI systems. Please see our Privacy Policy for details on how we collect, use, and protect your data.
Laaro, including its name, branding, app, and underlying technology, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to use Laaro's name, trademarks, or branding except as necessary to use the service as intended.
Laaro is delivered through WhatsApp, a service owned and operated by WhatsApp Inc. and Meta Platforms, Inc., and may rely on third-party AI providers to generate responses. Your use of WhatsApp is also governed by WhatsApp's own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which we do not control. We are not responsible for the availability, security, or performance of WhatsApp or any other third-party service Laaro depends on.
We aim to keep Laaro available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of Laaro at any time, including message limits, supported topics, supported languages, or pricing, with or without notice where reasonably practicable.
You may stop using Laaro and cancel your subscription at any time as described in Section 6. We may suspend or terminate your access to Laaro, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, misused the service, or created risk or legal exposure for us or others. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 8 through 10 and 14 through 17) will continue to apply after your access ends.
LAARO IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT LAARO WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY AI-GENERATED RESPONSE WILL BE ACCURATE OR APPROPRIATE FOR YOUR SITUATION.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, LAARO AND ITS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF LAARO, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF LAARO WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE THREE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS EXCLUDES OR LIMITS LIABILITY THAT CANNOT LAWFULLY BE EXCLUDED OR LIMITED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, INCLUDING LIABILITY FOR FRAUD OR GROSS NEGLIGENCE.
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have, the courts located in India shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of Laaro.
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in our service, pricing, or legal requirements. If we make material changes, we will make a reasonable effort to notify you (such as a message through Laaro or an updated "last updated" date above) before the changes take effect. Your continued use of Laaro after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
If you have questions about these Terms, please contact us at care@laaro.app.
